Charlotte:
We were having lunch at NP alumni’s clubhouse the other day. SO i decided while waiting for my meal to arrive, I’ll people watch.
So I came across the girl who was checking out the menu with two of her other guy friends. After looking through the menu, they decided to place their orders. It’s funny how the girl always gets to sit down while the dudes hurry off to the counter. When she was alone, she took out her phone. Ryan is right about this. As a result, I’ve become more concious about my actions when I’m alone. After playing with her phone for awhile, she takes another look at the menu. Was she trying to figure out how her meal would look like? I know I do that when I’m waiting. Her friends finally came back and they started chatting again. It wasn’t much until the food came. Well, it was one of the dude’s order. He started eating immediatly. The girl’s meal came afterward. She didn’t start eating. She waited for the last meal to arrive before she started.
Seemed to me like she speaks in English. She is local.
Hong Jun:
As usual, I was sitting in the train on the way home. Time to kill=people watch. There was this guy with a trucker cap. He had his fringe down. Wore a black shirt and had this tapered pants and slippers. ‘BENG’ was the first thought that came to my mind. An old lady entered the train. NOTE: I WAS STANDING UP. I somehow expected the Chinese guy to give his place up for the old lady because I saw that he noticed her coming in. However, he adjusted his cap and tilted his head down. I was angry but there was nothing I could do. Ok maybe he was tired. Maybe he was sick. But i only really realized that he was alright when he caught me staring at him. That’s when he stood up and walked to the other carriage.
Maybe Hong Jun thought you were flirting with him.
These aren’t bad submissions. It’s more that there’s not much to these submissions. You could do so much more. It feels like you made a quick glance and made a snap judgement, rather than involving yourself in building a character. We need to work at more subtle forms of observation in order to build character skills.
